“Burg” Youth Environmental Center” NGO with support from UN Armenia Communication Group have organized and implemented small scale forest restoration activity in Tsaghkadzor by the method of coppicing on 17-18th of June.
    The presentation of the activity took place on 16th of June, in the UN Office in Armenia – during the World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought events. Many NGOs and press representatives participated in this gathering where the meaning and the relatively cheap method of forest restoration, i.e. coppicing, its technical and financial advantages were described.
    During the two-day activity trees were coppiced and the forest cleaned from dry, sick and injured branches. The removed branches were collected and nicks were treated with dyes for excluding insect’s penetration into the stump.
    Total 20 young people participated in action and near 1 ha of forest cleaned and restored.
